Cubano Loco Takes Over Truck at 90th & Aurora

Last week we reported that Paladar Cubano at 90th and Aurora closed... but, then, the truck was still there.  One of our neighbors followed up on the story and got the scoop.  Thanks, Joe!

It's Now Cubano Loco
I talked with the proprietor of the truck at Aurora and 90th. She is the owner of the truck along with four others in the area (Lynnwood, Edmonds CC parking lot, Georgetown, Renton). She says the former proprietor of Paladar Cubano felt he needed a break, and to try something else. So she had him teach her how to make the Cuban dishes and she will run the truck until she can find someone else to run it. She would like to keep the Cuban sandwiches, but is also expanding the menu to include more, as she says, "taco truck" fare.

She renamed the truck to Cubano Loco, as a description of the former truck's operator. She also said that one of the employees is staying over to continue making food.

She had the truck closed on Wednesday to clean and get set-up for the new menu, to start on Thursday....

Paladar Cubano Closes

Goodbye to the much-loved cuban sandwich truck that has been stationed at 90th and Aurora for a little over a year.  The Seattle Weekly is reporting today that Paladar Cubano closed on Wednesday.  No explanation was given for the closure.

Here's hoping a taco truck takes its place!

Where All Nations Can Watch the World Cup

Aurora|Seattle reported on some of Seattle's best places to watch the World Cup (which all happen to be on Aurora!) a few weeks ago.  Yesterday, the Seattle Times reported specifically on All Nations Soccer Bar & Restaurant just off Aurora on 130th Street:

The All Nations Soccer Bar & Restaurant in North Seattle may be an alternative. It's new and large, maybe the largest soccer bar in the area. Two dining areas and a bar area, with two screen projectors and four televisions.

It looks like the United Nations headquarters out front, with 48 flags. The owner is Brazilian but tries to be diplomatic, stocking cheese, charcuterie, beers and spirits from around Europe and North America. Still typical bar food, though. The baked paprika-rub chicken wings were spicy, but you'll still wish the skin was deep-fried crispy. The mini pizzas called "pizzettas"?
