Over a month ago Aurora|Seattle reported that a coffee shop was likely coming to the east side of Aurora at 84th Street. While the prospective tenant changed his mind and decided not to start a coffee shop, someone else stepped in to make it happen!
My original informant about the potential coffee shop was Katie Clack, who owns Motion Boardshop with her husband Jason. Katie is no longer merely an informant - she is the person starting the yet-to-be-named destination for coffee, pastries, and sandwiches.
The coffee shop, which will inhabit a portion of the space that was previously Karin's Beauty Supplies, will be accessible on Aurora and will also be connected to the boardshop.
Katie hopes to have the place up and running by New Year's at the latest.
Meanwhile, a bit further south at 7616 Aurora Avenue, another new business is getting ready to open soon.... The Purple Store, "for people who love purple and those who shop for them," is coming to Aurora Ave.
The store, which was started by Adam Sheridan as an exclusively online store in 2005, will now also have a storefront operation where people will be able to stumble upon purple things they never could have imagined!
For a bit of history about The Purple Store, check out this Seattlepi.com article from 2009.
Welcome to the neighborhood!
